Strange but in a game where the L.A. Dodgers took a share of first place in their division, Manny, being Manny, hit a 2 run Homer and Nomar Garciaparra hit a walk off home run to seal the victory.
Are we talking Red Sox West here or what ??
Manny has hit 5 home runs in the last 12 games and batting .469 over the past 10. The guy he was traded for is a good 110 points below him in batting average and has already sat out of a game.
The Boston Red Sox beat Texas last night but are still 3 games out of 1st place behind Tampa Bay.
To all my blog readers that aren't baseball fans, please forgive me but there are a few of you that give me crap over my dislike for "The Trade" and now take pleasure in seeing L.A. and Ramirez do well.
Call him a whinner, call him names, "Manny being Manny" was always part of his game and when the Red Sox front office has a contract renewal coming up for a high salaried player I guess Red Sox Fans should just get ready to say goodbye; Roger Clemens, well good riddance to him, Nomar Garciaparra, Pedro Martinez, who will be next?
The Red Sox front office make all these players look like the "Bad Guy" and don't resign them. Nit-Wits!!
And now I am ready to take that abuse....and say GO L.A., GO BLUE !!

I'm getting you a bumper sticker that says 'my other car is a bandwagon'.
I predicted, a long time ago, that Manny would be MVP this year, I thought would be with the Sox but I guess it will have to be with the L.A. Dodgers. But I've been on the Manny Wagon ALL year, defending him from DAY 1
Can't wait to hear Momzy's comment!!
Manny has a real talent in the sport, however, in a team sport, it is also vital that you work with the team members. Manny had a difficult time doing that with the RED SOX and managed to cause chaos within the organization. He had to go!!!!
Sox haven't missed a beat though Tom. They are 9-3 since the trade and the fact that they are 3 out still is a tribute to the Rays more than anything.
going into last night....
Kevin Youkilis: batting average with men on base: .429
Manny Ramirez: batting average with men on base: .291 (Sox); .478 (Dodgers)
Youkilis hitting in 7+ innings: .390
Ramirez hitting in 7+ innings: .213 (Sox); .357 (Dodgers)
Youkilis OPS (on-base plus slugging): .948
Ramirez OPS: .786 (Sox); .899 (Dodgers)
I'd rather have a happy productive Manny. But he was pouting and not a part of the team any longer. Manny had to go.
I'm with you PG.

PG that was more impressive than a 10 in 20 seconds my brotha. Well said. The underlying factor in all of this is Tom's passionate man crush he has on the aforementioned Manny Ramirez.
meant to attach my name to the above comment.
Bunny, really, she's just gonna keep saying the same ol thing.
PG well put together argument, I 'm glad we didn't trade Youk, I guess will have to wait until his contract year to hat him.
Dave!! You are taking credit for that nonsense??
oh tom,, yea right poor manny!! everyone is replaceable. go cry me a river. hey how about your great cooking!! bonnie
Bonnie, That haircut you gave me today, I'd have to say YOU are irreplaceable, I wouldn't trade for another hairdresser any day (-:
PG: Think your logical argument may have put a dent in Tom's steadfast belief that they made a mistake when they let Manny go. Good for you!
Alright, I forgive you. But somewhere down the line, there'd better be a cookie headin my way.
OK. First off, I'm quite sure that people in L.A. are still trying to figure out who Manny is, which is not surprising. They barely know where the Stadium is or the fact that games are 9 innings long. With that out of the way, Manny will always be one of the greatest Sox of all time (in my book, anything written by Dan Shaugnessey should be burned)
The guy doesn't even seem to know where he is, which I always found funny as hell. For the polar opposite of this phenomenon See: Nomar(coincidently they're now on the same team)
Also, was there anything you'd get more pumped up about seeing than those rare Manny interviews with the press which were even 50 million times better when Papi would stroll over or even Pedro at times? I don't think so.
So, yeah, I'll be a Manny fan and I will continue to be one. I'm going to just continue thinking that Scott Boras got into his head and started telling a guy near the end of his career about a 100 million dollar contract that someone would give him, just not the Sox. I think that would screw me up a little too.
Oh, and one more thing. Who was the last guy to catch a fly ball in the outfield, take a few un-needed steps run up the wall high five a fan and then throw a guy out? That's right, Super Manny.
