For Mary Margaret

Tonight a gathering will take place to celebrate Mary's life, who we lost September 29th, 2004. It's something her family, her friends and I have done since we lost her.  She is gone but she left a mark and she will always be remembered.

Outspoken, funny, maddening at times !! She gave me  her love  and,  sometimes her wrath, I probably deserved it !  It was her kindness toward my children and grandchildren, my family and my friends, that are my favorite memories of her. I will always miss her but I know that I was lucky to have known her and love her. Lucky still to have met her family and her friends so that on this day we can be together and celebrate her life and the spark she added to all our lives.

Remembering Mary

It's been 5 years since Mary passed away and every year whatever family we can put together remembers and celebrates the fun she added to our lives. Last night was no different as her nephew and niece danced and her brother in law Mark, sister in-law Linda, her big sister Kathryn, her two brothers Charles and John,her Mom Gailsie and I had dinner together, and kept Mary close to our hearts.

September 29th, 2004 was a very sad day for me and those who knew and loved Mary, she died that morning almost a year after having a terrible head injury, months of chronic pain, and fighting depression.

Funny, fiery, a beautiful girl, but over that last year of her life we only caught glimpses of the Mary we knew and loved.

Today, as we have for the past three years , friends and family gathered together and celebrated Mary's life, shared some of the stories , cried a little, laughed a little, it was a good day to remember , as Mary's Mom calls her, "Our Precious Butterfly"
