Virus Alert (Hallmark Greetings) EMAIL ALERT

Hi All, I got this email earlier today, I checked Snopes

It's a real Virus Threat !

Get this message sent to your contacts ASAP
.

PLEASE FORWARD THIS WARNING AMONG FRIENDS, FAMILY AND CONTACTS!

You should be alert during the next few days.

Do not open any message
with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD FROM HALLMARK,' regardless of who sent it to you.

It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which
'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list.

This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your
contacts It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.

If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately. This is the worst virus announced by CNN.

It has been classified by
Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard
Disc, where the vital information is kept.

Although the postcard virus is real, is isn't a "BIG VIRUS COMING" (it's already been around in multiple forms for a long time now), it will not "burn the whole hard disc" of your computer, CNN didn't classify it as the "worst virus" ever, and it doesn't arrive in messages bearing a subject line of 'invitation'.

P.S. - Calm down and read the rest of the site.

Hi Tom,
I guess that Hollywood and I both check these out - "fatback" sent me an email with this info and I went to the Snopes site and read the info - another "what goes around, comes around, again and again..." Anyway when I went to play the trivia game I saw your post and just thought I'd let you know, but you know who beat me to it!!!

I read something, somewhere, sometime, (go figger...lol) that I felt was very good advice & which I took to heart. To avoid being the one who SENDS any sort of virus to your contact list, go into your address book and add a contact named "aaaaaaaaaaa" with no @whatever.com or .net or .org. If you do (Goddess forbid) contract a virus that forwards itself using the contacts list, you won't be forwarding it. When it tries to send to all your contacts, the very first one will give an error message (cuz it's not an email address) and put the kibosh on it. I added it to my contact list years ago, and it has stayed there ever since...just a suggestion yanno :)
