Trivia Weekly Winners

While we all know PG won the Monthly game...Today I see a couple new players and some returning players back in the game. It's a clean Slate so everyone try and play as many days as possible...I see we have some Vacationers actually playing from Disney World...Awesome!!

Well back to the business of naming the Weekly Winner as I had to work this morning I did not have time to tabulate the results..And they are interesting.

The Boston Celtics are headed to the NBA Finals for the first time since 1987 and the Larry Bird era.

Now if the NBA can just get their referees to call the right calls.. I almost fell out of my chair last night when Paul Pierce hit a 3 pt shot and was run into as he was shooting and He was called for a foul !!

WTF???

I guess the Celtics took it personally because they went on to erase a 10 point lead by Detroit and win the game!!

Awesome !!

Celtics and Lakers in the NBA Finals......That's Basketball's equivalent of the Red Sox vs Yankee rivalry in Baseball.

Speaking of the Red Sox they beat Baltimore last night in 13 Innings...Manny Ramirez is still looking for his 500th homerun but he ran like a rabbit last night in the 13th and scored what would prove to be the winning run.

YES, Boston woke up happy today!!

Of course the big move for Momzy came over the last 2 days of the week with 2 consecutive wins..Dawtch has continued her strong play and there's a real battle going on between Kathlock and PG. Tom managed to squeak in there too..I'm giving myself a pat on the back.

The weeks quizzes were not all that easy, Science and Religion posed some real problems for people. I saw the comments on the Trivia Page so I asked for a vote for this weeks categories and while there were not too many voters out there we did get enough to make it official.

THE BOSTON CELTICS

I wonder if the announcer with one name "MASON" regrets the way he introduced the Boston Celtics in Detroit last night.

He started by telling the partisan crowd that he was about to introduce " Some of the greatest athletes in the world" and the crowd cheered, then he said "But first let me introduce the starting lineup for the Boston Celtics!!"

OUCH, that was a bit of a snub!

So the apparent not so great Celtics Players took the floor and subsequently took the game with a commanding performance , winning by 14 points, 94-80

STROKE: Remember the 1st Three Letters.... S.T.R.

I really dislike emails that ask me to send them on to 10 more people, but in this case my sister sent me this email which explains how to identify the symptoms of a stroke. it's worth the read and could save a life...Please take a minute to read it.


During a BBQ, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine (they offered to call
paramedics) ....she said she had just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes.

They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food. While she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening

Ingrid's husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00 pm Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the BBQ. Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don't die.... they end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead.

It only takes a minute to read this...

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke... totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough.

RECOGNIZING A STROKE

Thank God for the sense to remember the '3' steps, STR. Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

S * Ask the individual to SMILE.
T * Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) ( i.e. It is sunny out today)
R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 999/911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher.

New Sign of a Stroke -------- Stick out Your Tongue

NOTE: Another 'sign' of a stroke is this: Ask the person to 'stick' out his tongue..If the tongue is 'crooked', if it goes to one side or the other , that is also an indication of a stroke.

A cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved.

Those Boston Teams!!

Less than 48 hours after beating Queen James and the Cleveland Cavaliers..The Boston Celtics defeated the Detroit Pistons 88-79 in the first game of the Eastern Conference Finals.

Scoring was led by Kevin Garnett , 26 points.

Paul Pierce threw in some beautiful fall away shots and had 22 points.

Rajon Rondo had 5 steals and 7 assists to go along with 11 points

Kendrick Perkins had 10 rebounds and really helped to control the boards.

We are still waiting to see Ray Allen step up ( 9pts) but I saw glimmers of the old Ray in this game.




The Boston Red Sox followed up the remarkable No Hit performance by John Lester , a cancer survivor, on Monday. With another fine pitching performance by rookie Justin Masterson who notched his first win in the Majors.

For Jason Varitek's it was his 4th No Hitter as catcher and it should put him in the record books and maybe even the Hall of Fame.

The last 2 No Hitters pitched in the Majors were pitched by Red Sox Pitchers!!

Tonight the Red Sox faithful will get their first look at Bartolo Colon on the mound, the 35 year old pitcher will start against the Kansas City Royals tonight in Boston.
