News mentioned that the structural weakening signs of the bridge were not heeded for years:(

Sad thing, really; some government officials (road works department?) should be held accountable for the tragedy.

I remember reading a report years ago by the DOT (or one of those agencies) that listed thousands of bridges that they considered to be on the edge of disaster-- and they said that isn't including the ones built for trains. And the smaller rural ones.

It gave me a fear of bridges.
And I lived in Maryland.
You can't go anywhere there without crossing a bridge at some point.

Very tragic.
My thoughts and prayers are with their families tonight.

It was all over the news in Singapore. I pray for the dead, missing and injured.

A.I. while there were reports of problems with the bridge, there are others in worse shape ...there will be plenty of blame to pass around

Tricia, I suspect a lot more attention to some of those reports will be given in the coming months

Eastcoast, thanks so much.,,
