I'm Going Primal !! I wonder if I'll need a spear?

It might be the affect that quitting cigarettes has on one's brain....but I have been reading quite a bit of Mark Sisson's Blog...Mark's Daily Apple : Primal Living In The  Modern World and I like it...I figure if I am gonna give up cigarettes, I might as well take it a little further.

With few a few exceptions, I am gonna approach my diet like the Primal Man. If I can't kill it with a spear, or pick it off a tree or in a garden...I am not gonna eat it...

Calories are Making a comeback this week.

Just a little over a week ago....

1. I was of jumping up on the Elliptical Machine and burning off 800+ calories in a sweaty 45 minute workout.
2. Taking multi vitamins and having a low sodium vegetable juice followed by a bowl of plain shredded wheat and low fat milk.
3. Making sandwich wraps for lunch at work filled with lettuce, onions and a scant slice of 99% Fat Free Turkey
4. I was losing weight and against all odds quitting the cigarette habit all at the same time !!

BACK TO REALITY:

While I have slipped with the cigarettes a couple times, I have gone nearly a week again without those awful things but the calories have made a comeback and the Elliptical may need to be dusted off.

I found that calories come in a lot of exciting shapes and sizes !
  • Chocolate Ice Cream topped with toasted coconut and walnuts !
  • Grey Goose Dirty Martinis with a side of sliders served at an Oceanside bistro
  • Key Lime Pie
  • 5 Guys Burgers and Fries
  • Sam Adams Summer Beer served in 22oz frosty glass
  • Pot Roast with mashed potatoes and GRAVY
  • Egg sandwiches grilled on Scali Bread with CHEESE
  • 3 Egg Omeletes with everything and a side of BACON

So I figure that what I need to do is fight one demon at a time !! While I did feel guilty, more like a guilty pleasure really, after eating a 5 Guys Hamburger and Fries which I followed up by eating a Bacon Cheese HOT DOG too. Yes food is a DEMON, the smell the taste but cigarettes are worse because they really don't have any added benefits...So...

I walked home about 3 miles yesterday after work hoping to reduce some of those calories as I knew I was headed to a family dinner of Pot Roast, mashed potatoes and GRAVY!!

I am going to stay away from cigarettes and slowly work on the diet..One thing at a time!!

Martinis are sooooo GOOD!

Dieting, It's not gonna be easy !!

For those who happen to get my posts in their Email, I am sorry. You just received a post that was absolutely blank !!

Quite frankly, my mind has been somewhat of a blank lately when it comes to posting something.

So I thought I'd clue you into where my mind is lately.

I'm thinking about food. ALL THE TIME !! Only I am thinking, "In order to stay under my 2100 calorie self imposed diet what can I eat ??

They smell so good coming out of the oven !!

I have to stay away from my sisters Potato Rolls, that's for sure!!

The rolls seem to be calling to me , nestled seductively in their basket and on the table next to them the Butter screams out my name !!

My goal is to lose 2 lbs a week and according to the info I have read, exercise and maintaining a 2100 calorie limit will help me do just that.

MMM, Anne's Banana Cream Pie!!

Anne's pie IS on my diet, sort of. ....

I have to avoid eating the crust, the cream and well I can eat bananas.
Today I checked the nutritional information on a chocolate bar, that's a first.

I discovered I could have 2.5 squares of dark chocolate and that it would add 60 calories to my daily tab. I gobbled it down as I haven't tasted chocolate in 3 days.

I needed it !!

So if any of you get crazy postings from me in your email, please forgive me !! I am going through food withdrawal !!

Tom's Mac and Cheese topped with crispy bacon...A real NO NO !!

I'm taking a break from cheese and fat. Someone told me the other day that cheese is addictive!!

I believe that !!

Well. I am going to munch on some baby carrots and put some laundry in !!

Diets, We are all on one -Try The Tom Cat Diet

The TomCat Diet says Strawberry Pie is OK

It's the truth..we all are on one diet or another. The South Beach Diet or The See - Food Diet..you know - see it, eat it - Maybe you are on a starvation diet, by choice rather than by circumstance I hope, or my favorite...I developed it a couple years ago, the Budweiser Diet.

di·et : the foods eaten, as by a particular person or group

We may be on a Multicultural diet, Soul Food on Sunday, Italian on Monday, Chinese on Tuesday...etc, etc..

Or we may be on a diet fit for Cows.....Vegetarian.

Fried Chicken Cutlets are OK Too!!

Whatever it is that we eat, is our Diet. I no longer am on the "Budweiser Diet", it was fun while it lasted, it did cause me to shed some weight. I still think if I Published the Book men all over would be ripping it off the shelves... Seriously if someone told a guy to go on a diet and he went to the bookstore and saw..."Losing Weight with Fresh Vegetables" or "THE BEER DIET" , which one would he pick???

Cheers!!

So why am I writing about diets...well, there are the 10 -15 pounds I'd like to say goodbye to for one. But when I was on the Treadmill every day and eating the "Right" foods it didn't seem to matter. Nothing changed...It reminds me of a friend of mine who has a cat that is sorta FAT. She exercises her cat making it run all over chasing a little pen light and feeds it the Lo Cal food but the cat doesn't change, it's still fat...

I feel like I'm kinda like a Tom Cat, while I don't really feel FAT, I want to shed a few pounds..So I am trying something new..The talking heads on television said that drinking red wine can be healthier than exercise...This is good news!!

Also, I heard that people often try to change too much in their diets only to revert back to there old eating habits...So the key is to just change one or two things in your diet...then it's easier to honor your commitment to the changes you make..

Awesome!! So here is my new Diet:

The Tom Cat Diet:

Less Exercise, more Red Wine and I am gonna cut cream out of my coffee!!

I'll let you know how it all works out!!

I'm calling it the Tom Cat Diet, unless someone can think of a better name!
