Old South Meeting House

On December 16, 1773, some 5000 colonists gathered at the Old South Meeting House to protest a tax and so, started a revolution with the Boston Tea Party.

Built in 1729, the Old South Meeting House was the largest building in colonial Boston, but is now towered over by the modern steel and glass buildings of today.

Boston is a beautiful city with a wonderful mix of old and new...

On a trip this past weekend I snapped a few shots of the city...

A new view of the Custom House from a park that used to be a a highway through the city until they put the highway in a tunnel with the costliest highway project ever... Big Dig

And another shot from the park , but , looking in the opposite direction, of Rowes Wharf where I left my Yacht above..I wish!!

Located across from the State House , beside the Boston Common is the Memorial to the Massachusetts 54th Volunteer Infantry which was one of the first black regiments in the US Military and fought in the Civil War and was depicted in the movie Glory starring Matthew Broderick and Denzel Washington.

All in all my son Pat and I had a nice day
strolling through the city, hope you enjoy the photos!!

Hooked on phonics...
Jake is five and just learning to read. He points to a picture in a zoo book and proudly says,
"Look Mama, this is a frickin' elephant!"
His mother is horrified, "What did you call it?''
"A frickin' elephant, Mama. It says so right under the picture!"

New Month, New Week and I made a boo boo

There will be a slight difference in the weekly winner scores for this coming Sunday. They will be based on the scores everyone gets starting today thru Saturday the 5th.

I lost some of the stats from Sunday so for this week there will only be 5 days instead of 7 for the week. Next week everything will be back to normal, well as normal as it gets here anyway. Sorry!!

Congrats to Kathlock who topped all scorers for the past month !!

I see aintneverscared has thrown down her desire to OWN the Trivia Scores this month....

I see Dawtch taking the top spot 3 of the last 4 days

kathlock continues to show us how sharp an Aussie girl from DownUnder can be while PG has been dropping more games than the Red Sox..

Let's see if we can get a new 1st place finisher for July. I love Kathlock and PG and I want them playing every day..They make me want to do better so I'm urging everyone else to kick some butt this month and let's give those two champs a run for it.

kathlock, soy-boy, ME and Shaun took the other 4 slots this week...I have been knocked out of the top 5 overall stats and I am going to try real hard to get back in there by Wednesday.

As far as the Monthly winner to be announced on Wednesday....It's down to the same 2 people as last Month only this time their roles are reversed.

Good Luck everyone !!

George Carlin , R.I..P.

George Carlin died of heart failure last night after checking into a hospital complaining of chest pains, he was 71.

Here is one of the many rants he performed in his great comedic career:

GOD

When it comes to bullshit, big-time, major league bullshit, you have to stand in awe of the all-time champion of false promises and exaggerated claims, religion. No contest. No contest. Religion. Religion easily has the greatest bullshit story ever told. Think about it. Religion has actually convinced people that there's an invisible man living in the sky who watches everything you do, every minute of every day. And the invisible man has a special list of ten things he does not want you to do. And if you do any of these ten things, he has a special place, full of fire and smoke and burning and torture and anguish, where he will send you to live and suffer and burn and choke and scream and cry forever and ever 'til the end of time!

But He loves you. He loves you, and He needs money! He always needs money! He's all-powerful, all-perfect, all-knowing, and all-wise, somehow just can't handle money! Religion takes in billions of dollars, they pay no taxes, and they always need a little more. Now, you talk about a good bullshit story. Holy shit!

But I want you to know something, this is sincere, I want you to know, when it comes to believing in God, I really tried. I really, really tried. I tried to believe that there is a God, who created each of us in His own image and likeness, loves us very much, and keeps a close eye on things. I really tried to believe that, but I gotta tell you, the longer you live, the more you look around, the more you realize, something is farked up.

Something is wrong here. War, disease, death, destruction, hunger, filth, poverty, torture, crime, corruption, and the Ice Capades. Something is definitely wrong. This is not good work. If this is the best God can do, I am not impressed. Results like these do not belong on the resume of a Supreme Being. This is the kind of shit you'd expect from an office temp with a bad attitude. And just between you and me, in any decently-run universe, this guy would've been out on his all-powerful ass a long time ago !!

R.I.P. George
